Bake Your Own Amazing Bagels demystifies the "roll with a hole." 

Oakland, CA resident Laurie Leiber has been teaching ordinary people how to bake extraordinary bagels for over a decade. Leiber's passion for authentic, naturally fermented bagels has always been more than a business—it's an obsession.

Bagel making classes taught in person in Laurie's kitchen gave way to virtual Shape, Boil and Bake* workshops during COVID.  Laurie provided  dough and guided her students via Zoom as they shaped, boiled, and baked amazing bagels in their own kitchens.  As with her face-to-face classes, participants learned about the history of this humble but important bread. Although most  were locals, past students have taken their new bagel making skills to Austria, Italy, Mexico, Japan, the Netherlands and India.

Laurie always gave all her students a recipe with which they could prepare their own bagels from scratch.  But many wanted to purchase dough like that she'd provided for the virtual workshop.  This was the spark that led to Bake Your Own Amazing Bagel's bagel making kits.

Each kit contains 18 ounces naturally fermented, organic bagel dough (enough for 6, 3 ounces bagels), poppy and sesame seeds, semolina flour, baking parchment, and detailed instructions.  Videos about shaping and boiling your bagels are also available.

“Now no one needs to settle for mediocre bagels,” says Leiber. “Even people who describe themselves as 'non-bakers' can  produce superb bagels at home in their own kitchens."
